This is my setup for a Linux laptop for video editing.
- second hand Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with Intel chips and 1.8 GHz Centrino Duo and 2 GB of RAM
- 15 inch screen with only 1024*768 pixels
- Samsung 64 GB flash SSD sata disk
- Debian Lenny upgraded to unstable
- some power tweaks based on powertop suggestions
- minor parallel boot tweaks
I hope kdenlive use will be fast. Disk is small and fits just one or two projects at a time, but it is really fast. I will use a separate USB box with a 2.5 inch SATA disk as additional storage. Will see how this turns out. With the SSD disk boot time went from over a minute to 20 seconds. Screen is not enough for full HD but close enough for my editing needs which target web formats anyway.
